Meet Linda, one of our Strength for Life Members

My name is Linda.

I’m 73 and live in Deeside with my husband, Ken.

When did you start your yoga journey and how often do you practice yoga?

I started yoga with Emma a few years ago now. I’d not done yoga before but always enjoyed keeping fit with aerobics and the gym, etc. Whilst visiting Gladstone’s Library one day, I discovered they had yoga on Tuesday mornings so I decided to give it a go. Emma was so welcoming as were other yogi’s. I found myself hooked, as yoga suited my body, along with Emma’s introduction and help. I signed up for the Strength for Life Membership which includes the Live Zoom classes; a saviour during covid; plus I have access to the library of past recorded classes, which I make good use of as I love travelling in our motor home. The online [Library of classes] enables me to keep up my strength and practice whilst on the move.

What's your favourite class, etc.

My favourite class when I’m home is the Tuesday morning physical class at Gladstone’s library, as I enjoy meeting with fellow yogis. It’s always nice when Emma can correct help and push me in areas I’ve not been able to see or achieve myself.

Why yoga / core classes help you?

I hope to continue with yoga well into my later years as it keeps me flexible and moving plus also balance which we all know is so important as we age.

What's your least favourite yoga pose/core drill and why?

On that note, I must add it’s the balancing poses I least like! I don’t think I’m alone on that one!

My favourite pose is not so much a pose but I love a yoga flow I find it so rewarding.

Yoga Goals / Plans for the future

My goals for the future are to continue doing what I’m doing for as long as I can!
