Update: The Strength for Life community

How is it nearly March already!?

The month of February felt like a month to just generally sort things out. All the boring bits of admin, organising and tidying up.

March will welcome lighter days and that gives us more motivation to get out and about a bit more. Feeling more organised and motivated to do more and enjoy that spring energy in our step!

This week we celebrated Lilian’s 91st birthday at Gladstone’s Library. She’s been doing yoga for about 7 years and she joins in with the whole class! She can lift and hold her body weight with two hands on the ground! Now, that’s strength! She’s an absolute trooper, a joy to have in our classes and proof that yoga really is for all ages!

Sunday 3 March

THIS Sunday (3 March) is a busy one for me; as I’ll be teaching at Jaunty Goat; then heading over the road to the Storyhouse to teach a class about the female body in yoga; as part of their Women’s Weekend, packed full of brilliant talks and events.

I’lI have one complimentary ticket for the Storyhouse Womens Weekend event (either Saturday or Sunday). Let me know if you’d like the Day Pass and it’s yours!

On Sunday afternoon I’ll be in Hawarden at The Walled Garden School for their Open Day. Adults £3; and children £2 - all money goes to the local charity Daffodils. They’ll be cooking demos and a chance to explore if you’ve not been before.

Strength for Life community

The Strength for Life membership is growing and it’s been great to see so many of you embrace the classes and get yourself motivated to be a stronger version of YOU! The 15 minute morning core classes have been particularly popular, as they’re a great way to get you going first thing and allow you to start the day with some exercise in the bag!

I’ve also been doing more 1-2-1s these last few weeks, with members, which for me is a great way to get to know you on an individual level. From your point of view it’s a great way to tailor your needs in each class for your own body so you can progress and feel stronger more quickly.

I must admit there has been a lot more queries about lower back pain and I’ve been giving some advice on how to maintain an exercise regime, whilst also looking after your lower back. Essentially, you need to build strength in your opposite muscles; the core; as well as strengthening glutes and hip flexors. My 15 minute morning Core classes have always been designed to look after the lower back and strengthen these other key areas of the body; so these 15 min classes are a great way to ease yourself back in, whilst looking after your lower back.

One of the great things about the Membership is that I can offer what you need, so keep an eye out for upcoming workshops, including ‘Going upside down'; some longer, ‘90 min Restorative Yin sessions’ and a recap on the ‘Anterior / Posterior Pelvic tilt’; as well as some mini 15 minute yoga sessions specifically for stretching out after running.

If you have any other requests, just let me know.
